OUR RESIDENTS

Babe
Mare - Rescued from Auction
When their previous home was sold, three generations of horses (matriarch Trouble, daughters Glory & babe, & Babe's son Money) had nowhere to go and seemed destined to go to auction. Thankfully, they found a safe landing at Farm to ABLE and this family can stay together for the rest of their lives.

Bruce Wayne Fontana
Owner-Surrendered Mini-Pig
Bruce and his siblings (we call this family herd the Fontanas because they came to us from Fontana, KS) were re-homed through Craigslist, advertised as pets or food. Since arriving to the sanctuary in March 2020, Bruce has been fully vetted and has come out of his shell. Bruce is an adventurous but aloof fellow. He's approximately 5 years old, and he is likely done growing. Check out the bat signal on his nose!

Sister
Mother of Goats
Sis is the sweetest soul you will ever come across. She was found frolicking astray in Grain Valley, MO with her ride or die, Brother. Grain Valley Animal Control picked them up & Farm To ABLE did the stray hold. Once the stray hold was up and humans did not show, we were able to adopt these two sweet siblings. They love to do alterations to any clothing if anyone is in need! They work for alfalfa pellets!

Booneshine
Transport Truck Jumper Survivor
In May 2018, a compassionate human noticed Boone curled up & scared in a passing lane on I-70 Highway. Cars driving right over him! After months of medical care (including treatment for road rash, strep, daily injections, oral medications and hydrotherapy for two broken bones), Boone was given a clean bill of health and quickly became our most charming resident.

Ani
Pyrenees LGD - Our Shy Girl
Ani was seen on a Facebook page being given away for free in Nebraska. She was a breeder dog & her previous owners had no more use for her. We were told by previous owner she was three years old. After her proper vetting & care, her vet said she was at least six years old. Ani is a little onion with MANY layers but ultimately has the most tender & intimate soul.

Pinot
Pyrenees LGD - Shelter Adopted
SPCA of Merriam Kansas said they had the perfect fit for us! Perfect Pinot was a stray and was collected by a construction worker who just put her in the back of his truck and took her to the shelter. We don't know her full story, but we do know from her getting a full medical evaluation that she was neglected and kenneled for long periods. She has been an amazing "Sanctuary" Guard Dog and even though while she's outside she's rolling in dirt and living her best outside life; she chooses to spend most of her time inside on our furniture or Pinot's Perch (her personal deck & lookout).

Martin
Miniature/Poland China Pig
Martin along with 12 of his siblings were born as a product of a miniature pig getting into a swine producing facility and impregnating a large breed Poland China sow. 11 of the piglets survived. Four of them found their way to Farm to ABLE in January of 2022. Two of the siblings were adopted out to a rescue in Arkansas. Martin is full of life and gets so excited for his belly rubs that he will drop six feet away from you with anticipation. He has a lot of things to say and hot pants for everyone! He is deeply adored by many and will always carry a little piece of his late brother with him for us all to cherish.

Ziggy
Here's our boy
Ziggy is a full character and a half. In February of 2022, a friend of the sanctuary and fellow pig parent stumbled upon a stray in her yard. He clearly knew who to go to for help! After his stray hold was up and quarantine complete, Ziggy was neutered, integrated into the herd, and has become a sanctuary favorite!
